Founded in 1948 by Dimitrios Kolios in Polykastro-Kilkis, KOLIOS began as a small dairy producing kasseri cheese. The family’s cheesemaking tradition, rooted in the mountainous region of Seli, quickly gained a reputation throughout Northern Greece and Athens. By 1959, the company expanded with a new factory in Polykastro and a second seasonal factory in Seli, processing high-quality milk from local sheep and goats.

Under the second generation’s leadership from 1974, KOLIOS modernized and expanded its production facilities, introduced new product lines, and began successful export activities. Significant innovations included the introduction of Greece's first individually packed cheese in 1983 and pioneering milk cooling and collection techniques in 1989, greatly enhancing milk quality and product excellence.

By 2002, KOLIOS built a state-of-the-art production plant in Polykastro-Limnotopos and continued to innovate by producing Organic FETA PDO in 2007 and organic yogurt in 2016. Today, KOLIOS is one of Europe’s best-equipped dairies, leading in Greek cheese production and Feta P.D.O. exports, with numerous awards and a strong international presence in 55 countries.
