Pearl barley, or pearled barley, is whole-grain barley that has been processed to remove its fibrous outer hull and polished to remove some or all of the bran.
It is the primary ingredient of Orzotto, a popular Italian dish, similar to risotto and made with pearl barley instead of rice
It is also used in soups, stews, and potages
Organic wholegrain pearl barley can be used to bulk up soups and stews or made into a salad for a substantial main meal, or it can be used in place of arborio rice in risotto.
